Position: Counselor -  Summer Leadership Academy

 

Reports to: Site Principal - Freshman Academy 

 

Supervises: None

 

Qualifications:      

  1. Hold a valid Oklahoma Secondary School Counselor certificate.
  2. Hold Master's degree.
  3. Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goals:  To assist students in making appropriate life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as responsible adults through academic, personal, social and vocational guidance services. 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Guides students in course and subject selection; assists in development of 4-year graduation plans, reviews computer credit checks for graduation and assists with schedule changes. 
  2. Interprets information in student cumulative records to parents, teachers, and students. 
  3. Is aware of and implements available interventions when working with potential drop-outs or other at-risk students, i.e. tutor or summer school options, alternative school, basic class options, study skills guidance. 
  4. Provides individual and group guidance for students on personal/social issues that will lead to increased personal growth, self-esteem and maturity.  Topics may include peer mediation, substance abuse prevention/intervention, communication, relationships with others, and emotional adjustment. 
  5. Provides immediate crisis intervention for students or parents.
  6. Provides college advisement, OHLAP information and materials to students and parents. 
  7. Is familiar with Guidance Office procedures and practices and handles immediate responses at the office counter when necessary.
  8. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Employment Terms:  Certified Temporary Contract - Four days per week, four hours per day; June 3, 2024 - June 20, 2024

 

Compensation: $25.00 per hour

 

FLSA Qualification:  Non Exempt

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.
