JOB DESCRIPTION

Title:                          Childhood Instructor II 

                                 

Classification:            Classified Hourly - BC

 

Qualifications:           

  • Must possess one of the following requirements:
  • Hold Child Development Associate (CDA)
  • Hold Certificate of Mastery
  • Completed thirty (30) college hours which includes fifteen (15) hours of child development coursework
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree which includes six (6) hours of child development coursework. 
  • Experience in preschool or childcare teaching preferred.
  • Must meet all state licensing requirements.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.
  • Ability to lift thirty pounds to a shoulder height.
  • The ability to bend, stand, kneel, lift, and move freely about in order to interact with children and perform all job duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To:                Site Coordinator 

 

Position Goals:           Assist in providing innovative teaching and care in an early learning environment that offers and encourages choice and developmentally appropriate self-direction.

                                 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as instructional leader in the classroom.
  2. Assist with everyday operations of the program, including setting up before students come and cleaning up after the students leave.
  3. Work with students in a manner consistent with each child’s growth and development. Be aware of each child’s needs.
  4. Assist in preparing lesson plans for children in accordance with developmentally appropriate practices.
  5. Implement lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate environment. Structure work and play centers to meet the needs of the children and licensing requirements.
  6. Attend all required meeting and meet all staff development requirements.
  7. Assist in evaluation of the program.
  8. Adhere to student behavior and discipline as per the Jenks Elementary Handbook. Guide and administer discipline in a positive, respectful manner, which promotes self-control, self-direction, and self-esteem for each individual child.
  9. Attend workshops and conferences in accordance with licensing standards

       and requirements per licensed year.

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk and/or hear.  The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.                 

 

Terms of Employment:

 

                                  Twelve (12) months a year.  Salary and work year to be established by the

                                  Board.  Benefits as established by Board policy.
