JOB DESCRIPTION

Title:                           Substitute Childhood Instructor II – Before & After School Enrichment

Classification:            Classified Hourly - BC

Qualifications:    

1. High School diploma

2. Must possess one of the following requirements:

Hold Child Development Associate (CDA)

Hold Certificate of Mastery

Completed thirty (30) college hours which includes fifteen (15) hours of child development coursework

Hold a Bachelor’s degree which includes six (6) hours of child development coursework.

3. Experience in daycare/school-age care.

4. Must meet all state licensing requirements.

5. Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.

6. The ability to bend, stand, kneel, lift, and move freely about in order to interact with children.

7. Perform all job duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To: Site Coordinator - Before & After School Enrichment

Position Goals: Assist in providing innovative teaching and care in a learning environment that offers and encourages choice and developmentally appropriate self-direction.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Assist with everyday operations of the program, including setting up before students come and cleaning up after the students leave.

2. Work with students in a manner consistent with each child’s growth and development. Be aware of each child’s needs.

3. Assist in preparing lesson plans for children in accordance with developmentally appropriate practices.

4. Implement lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate environment. Structure work and play centers to meet the needs of the children and licensing requirements.

5. Attend all required meeting and meet all staff development requirements.

6. Assist in evaluation of the program.

7. Adhere to student behavior and discipline as per the Jenks Elementary, Intermediate, and Middle School Handbooks. Guide and administer discipline in a positive, respectful manner, which promotes self-control, self-direction, and self-esteem for each individual child.

8. Attend workshops and conferences in accordance with licensing standards and requirements per licensed year.

9. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Salary and work year to be established by the Board.  Benefits as established by Board policy.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Staff Evaluation (2. 21/classified).
