JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Substitute Teacher Assistant-Community Preschool
Classification: Classified Hourly - AB
Qualifications:
1. High School diploma
2. Experience in preschool or childcare teaching preferred.
3. Early childhood training through credit and/or non-credit classes, workshops, conferences, etc. preferred.
4. Must meet all accreditation requirements.
5. Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.
6. Ability to lift thirty pounds to a shoulder height.
7. The ability to bend, stand, kneel, lift, and move freely about in order to interact with children and perform all job duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: District Coordinator of Early Childhood Center
Position Goals: Assist in providing innovative teaching and care in a preschool
learning environment that offers and encourages choice and developmentally appropriate self-direction.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Assist with everyday operations of the program, including setting up before students come and cleaning up after the students leave.
2. Work with students in a manner consistent with each child’s growth and development. Be aware of each child’s needs.
3. Assist in preparing lesson plans for children in accordance with developmentally appropriate practices.
4. Implement lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate environment.
5. Structure work and play centers to meet the needs of the children and licensing requirements.
6. Attend all required meetings and meet all staff development requirements.
7. Assist in the evaluation of the program.
8. Adhere to student behavior and discipline as per the Jenks Elementary Handbook. Guide and administer discipline in a positive, respectful manner, which promotes self-control, self-direction, and self-esteem for each individual child.
9. Attend workshops and conferences in accordance with staff development requirements per year.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Terms of Employment:
Nine (9) months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Benefits as established by Board policy.
