JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Paraprofessional
Classification: Classified Hourly - CB (35 hours per week, 9 months) 2746
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma.
2. Satisfy No Child Left Behind requirements by:
a. Having an associate’s degree or higher, or
b. Completing at least 2 years of study (48hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or
c. Taking and passing a rigorous standard of demonstrated quality by June 30, 2006.
3. Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Special Education teacher, principal and Special Education Director
Position Goals:
Assist in the implementation of the program designed to meet the specific goals and objectives for each student, through the provision of individual attention, additional and/or enrichment instruction.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Assist the teacher with instruction and/or activities for individual or groups.
2. Assist with meeting the physical and training needs of the student.
3. Modify materials and maintain room for instruction of special education students.
4. Accompany special education students to and from activities.
5. Maintain student records, i.e., confidentiality, adhere to school schedules, etc.
6. Maintain CPR certification and participate in CPR training biannually.
7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).
8. Participation in in-service programs.
Terms of Employment:
Nine (9) months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Benefits as established by Board policy.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Staff Evaluation (2.21/classified).
