JOB DESCRIPTION

Title:                       Substitute Early Childhood Assistant - Kindergarten

Classification:         Classified Hourly - CB (15 hours per week, 9 months)  2767

Qualifications:    

        1. Satisfy No Child Left Behind requirements for Highly Qualified status by:

                    a.   Having an associate’s degree or higher, or

                    b.   Completing at least 2 years of study (48hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or

                    c.   Receiving a score of 455 or better on the ParaPro Assessment

        2. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship

        3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports To:            Principal

Position Goals:       To have direct involvement with children for majority of day

Performance Responsibilities:

        1. Collaborate with teacher regarding instructional plans

        2. Assist with classroom lessons and activities

        3. Facilitate small/large group activities

        4. Facilitate center activities

        5. Support the class behavior plan

        6. Supervision of children during teacher plan period, lunch, and recess

        7. Assist children with restroom needs when necessary

        8. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by supervisor

Terms of Employment:

Nine (9) months a year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.  Benefits as established by Board policy.

Evaluation:   

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Staff Evaluation   (2.21/classified).
