Position:     Native American Education Administrative Assistant

 

Reports to: Native American Education Coordinator and Director of Student Programs

 

Supervises: None

 

Qualifications:        

  1. High School diploma or GED required.
  2. Be knowledgeable about computers.
  3. Have work processing skills.
  4. Section 7(b) of Public Law 93-638, The Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, required that, to the greatest extent feasible, preference for employment be given to American Indians.  The American Indian Education Parent council must be involved in the employment process as outlined in the Federal guidelines.
  5. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal:  To provide clerical, secretarial and student assistance in all program and service areas for qualified students under Title VII and Johnson O’Malley.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Data entry and report generation for Annual Reports, District Site Reports, Needs Assessment Survey, Parent Council and other appropriate district grants.
  2. Send information to parents, students and teachers as relates to programs and services of Native American Education.
  3. Correspond with district, state, tribal and state organizations as initiated by the Coordinator.
  4. Send/post notice of meetings, prepare agendas, minutes and financial statements for Parent Council as well as district employees.
  5. Assist with student enrollment, school supply distribution, mentoring, tutoring, and other programs as directed by Coordinator.
  6. Assist in the development and maintenance of appropriate paperwork and documentation to track program grant expenditures.
  7. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Employment Terms:  Ten (10) month classified hourly contact. Will be paid from the Title VI and/or the Johnson O’Malley (to document 25% of time devoted to JOM students) Grants coordinator and/or Parent Council will approve additional hours.

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information.
