Jenks Public Schools Job Description

Position: Licensed Practical Nurse 

Reports to: Coordinator of Nursing Services and Site Principal

Supervises: None

Qualifications:       

1. Hold or be eligible for a minimum of Licensed Practical Nurse certificate.
2. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. 

Position Goal:  Provide services for students requiring full-time nursing support while attending Jenks Public Schools. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Administers medications according to physician's orders and District policies.
2. Maintain airway by oral, nasal or tracheal suctioning as necessary and according to written procedures.
3. Administers and documents gastrostomy feedings as ordered for students with gastrostomy tubes.
4. Documents and describes seizure activity and takes necessary action to protect students’ airway and prevent physical injuries. Communicates with parents as necessary.
5. Monitors oxygen saturations as needed using pulse oximeter and administers oxygen per nasal cannula or mask as needed per District policy.
6. Documents and maintains student health information in a professional manner.
7. As necessary, travels to and from school with students via District transportation.
8. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Occasional Requirements:  Reach with hands and arms overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.

Visual Requirements:  Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
