Position: Journeyman Plumber/Equipment Repair

 

Reports to: Director of Facilities Management

 

Supervises: None

 

Qualifications:      

  1. High School diploma or GED required.
  2. Work cooperatively with students, teachers and co-workers.
  3. Required to have a current Journeyman license and keep license activated.
  4. Will be multi-skilled in two or more areas of work or in the same work field.
  5. Previous experience in area of skill.
  6. Must hold a valid drivers license and qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  7. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: To keep all district buildings and facilities in such a state of operating excellence that they present no interruptions to the educational program and district functions.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains the heating, water, gas and plumbing systems using hand and power tools such as sewer auger or vacuum plunger, acetylene torch, soldering and welding equipment, sewer camera, pipe locator, and related plumbing tools.
  2. Practices preventive maintenance of plumbing tools and equipment.
  3. Complies with federal regulations governing environmental protection, hazardous waste disposal and the use of chemical substances and materials common to the plumbing trade.
  4. Monitors and reports maintenance issues needing attention to the appropriate authority.
  5. All skilled personnel of any type at this level will be multi-skilled and be able to use their special talents in a quality manner and in a professional manner, not necessarily on a daily basis.
  6. All multi-skilled personnel in the construction trades will be proficient in their area and be able to do whatever is necessary to complete the job assigned to them.
  7. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Employment Terms: Twelve (12) month classified hourly contract

Regular Requirements:  Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch; lift/move up to 40 pounds; climb ladders; use manlifts; tolerate heights; handle objects and tools with hands; repetitive use of fingers and hands.

 

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 80 pounds.

 

Visual Requirements:  Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

 

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information.
