Position: Social Worker
Reports To: Executive Director Student Services
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent required.
- Social Work licensure preferred.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goals: Identify and assist students, families, and the school district in overcoming barriers that interfere with learning through the use of counseling, consultation, coordination of school and community resources, and program development.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent ongoing support for students dealing with situations affecting their educational progress, such as death, mental health issues, chronic poverty or homelessness, divorce, physical health or hygiene issues, etc.
- Conduct needs assessments for students/families.
- Counsel with students in order to better meet their needs. Provide crisis intervention, as needed.
- Assist with referrals to agencies/resources in town for food, clothing, shelter, medical and mental health needs for students. Provide referrals to various community wraparound service agencies for high risk or high needs families.
- Assist with Alternative Education Center referrals.
- Serve as liaison to homeless students and families or students with no parent contact with the school.
- Assist with requests made by family members for services.
- Assist English Language Learner and immigrant students and families.
- Act as a liaison among Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS), schools, families, and community partners.
- Attend all required trainings and stay updated on relevant OKDHS and educational policies.
- Make home visits as needed.
- Offer support, guidance and collaboration to staff as needed via consultations or by providing resources.
- Access and distribute Education Service Center Family Assistance Funds to help students and families.
- Provide end of year report regarding student services.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA and state laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education’s policy on Staff Evaluation (2.21/classified).
