Title: ESY Substitute Paraprofessional

 

Reports To:  Director of Student Programs

 

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED required
  2. Satisfy Oklahoma paraprofessional requirements by having an associate’s degree or higher, or completing at least 48 hours of coursework at an institution of higher education, or taking and passing a rigorous standard of demonstrated quality (Parapro Test)
  3. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable  

Position Goals:  To assist in the implementation of the program designed to meet the specific goals and objectives for each student, through the Individualized Education Plan.  

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the teacher with instruction and/or activities for individuals and groups
  2. Assist with meeting the physical and training needs of the student
  3. Modify materials and maintain room for instruction of special education students
  4. Accompany special education students to and from activities
  5. Maintain student records, i.e. confidentiality, adhere to the classroom schedule, etc.

Physical Demands:

  2. Regular Requirements:  Stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods/twist at the neck and trunk/bend at the waist/ stoop, kneel, crouch; lift/move up to 20 pounds; handle objects and tools with hands; repetitive use of fingers and hands
  3. Occasional Requirements:  Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 50 pounds
  4. Visual Requirements:  Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability  to adjust focus
  5. Hearing /Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information
