Position: Lifeguard
Reports to: Coordinator - Trojan Aquatic Center
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Current certification in America Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid (or equivalent) required.
- Current certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability in working with young children, parents and community members.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: To maintain a positive and safe environment for all patrons.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Performs surveillance of patrons in the swimming pool facility.
- Recognizes emergencies and responds quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
- Enforces all swimming pool facility policies, rules and regulations.
- Performs opening and closing duties including equipment set up.
- Assists patrons in a friendly manner without compromising surveillance duties.
- Inspects the swimming pool facility daily and reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Aquatics Coordinator.
- Completes records and reports in a professional manner.
- Participates in regular in-service training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
